The procedures were carried out by the ophthalmology team of the Teaching Hospital, with all surgical consumables and lenses provided by ACT Foundation. Patients were safely transported from Kilinochchi to Jaffna and back, with meals and support arranged to ensure their comfort. For many, the surgeries marked the end of years of blurred vision and dependency \u2014 allowing them to once again care for their families, resume livelihoods, and engage with their communities with confidence.<\/p>\n<p>Years of conflict and hardship have left the communities of the Vanni region in northern Sri Lanka with limited access to specialist healthcare. Among the most affected are elderly and low-income individuals suffering from cataracts, a leading cause of preventable blindness. Many endure declining vision simply because they cannot afford surgery or travel to well-equipped hospitals. Recognizing this urgent need, ACT Foundation Sri Lanka, with the generous support of Selfless ACT Incorporated, Australia, launched a life-changing initiative under the ACT4Vision program to restore sight and dignity to those in need.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text );\" src=\"http:\/\/www.actfoundation.lk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Cataract-Jay-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:image --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>This initiative stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through compassion and collaboration. By joining hands across borders, ACT Foundation Sri Lanka along with Selfless ACT Australia, Adding Value to Sri Lanka UK,\u00a0 Friends of the World, and Apex Fusion Stake Pool have brought light back into the lives of 42 individuals and their families.
